Swedana Jaipur (स्वेदन)

Overview

Swedana is a classical herbal steam therapy used to open the body's channels, loosen accumulated toxins and prepare the body for deeper Panchkarma procedures.

How It Works

Medicated herbal steam is applied to the body, generating gentle heat that liquefies toxins and improves circulation, typically following an Abhyanga oil massage.

Indications

This may be recommended for:

  • Preparatory therapy before Panchkarma
  • Feeling of heaviness or sluggishness

The Process

Purva Karma (Preparation)

Usually performed after Abhyanga; the head and heart area are protected from direct steam exposure.

Pradhana Karma (Main Procedure)

The patient is exposed to herbal steam in a controlled setting for a set duration, monitored for comfort.

Paschat Karma (Aftercare)

Patients are advised to rest, stay warm, and hydrate following the session.
